All conference delegates were given leaflets reminding them that the union was "committed to combating bullying, intimidation and all forms of harassment, including sexual harassment, wherever it occurs".
The leaflet, signed by the union's three general officers, supplies the names of union members who would assist victims of harassment.
In 1997 there were allegations made of sexual harassment of female delegates. The allegations were found to be unrelate to SIPTU but the union passed a resolution to provide facilities for dealing with future complaints.
