On-street parking in Limerick city is to be free at weekends until the end of the year, in a move to promote Christmas shopping.

Limerick City Council said there would be no charge for parking on Fridays and Saturdays between 2pm and 5.30pm from this Friday, December 2nd, to December 30th inclusive.

This means there will be 3,000 on-street spaces free on Fridays and a further 1,044 on Saturdays. On-street parking in the city is free on Sundays.
