A site called Sacred Space has been set up by Ireland's Jesuit Communications Centre. At www.jesuit.ie/prayer it will be updated every day during Lent. The 10-minute session provided will be based on a chosen short scripture passage. Father Alan McGuckian SJ, head of the Jesuit Communications Centre in Dublin, said "a lot of people spend hours at their computers every day, and often these same people have difficulty finding the time to pray. So we're bringing the prayer to them."

Among those who have welcomed the initiative is Senator David Norris, one of the better-known Internet surfers. He said he thought it "very important to spiritualise what can too often be merely mechanised information systems".
