Lucent Technologies today posted narrower first-quarter losses.
Net loss at the company, which employs 900 people at its three operations in Dublin, fell to €478 million from €525 million a year earlier. Sales fell 18 per cent to €4 billion from €4.8 billion.
Revenue dropped 7.9 per cent to €3.87 billion.
The telecom equipment and networking company believes that revenue for the quarter "represented the low point for Lucent sales in the current market downturn".
Lucent expects sales to grow 10 to 15 per cent during the second quarter.
