The British government has welcomed the commitment of the LVF to start decommissioning, the Northern Ireland Minister, Mr Adam Ingram, told the House of Commons last night.

He was speaking during a Commons debate to amend the Northern Ireland Sentences Act, which was passed without a vote. As a result, the LVF's ceasefire has been recognised and it has been removed from the list of "specified organisations", thus allowing its prisoners to benefit from the prison release programme.
