A 19-year-old man is recovering from bullet wounds to both ankles sustained during a paramilitary-style shooting in the North.

The victim was taken to hospital following the attack, which is believed to have been carried out in the New Barnsley Crescent area of west Belfast.

An RUC spokesman said investigations into the shooting were continuing.
