Man charged with murder of friend

A MAN was charged in Belfast yesterday with the murder of another man described as a close friend.

A MAN was charged in Belfast yesterday with the murder of another man described as a close friend.

Mr Gerald Anthony Curley, (33) from Selhy Walk, Belfast, appeared at the Magistrates' Court.

He was charged with murdering Paul Henry Bradley (31) from Roden Street, who died on Monday from a stab wound to the stomach. A detective said Mr Curley replied to the charge "I'm sorry."

He told Mr Michael Flanagan, defending, that he believed alcohol had played a major part in Mr Curley's death. He said the two men were close friends and that Mr Curley had shown genuine remorse over what happened.

Mr Curley was remanded in custody until July 17th and Mr Flanagan said an application for hail would he made in the High Court.
