One man has been killed and another seriously injured in a road crash in Co Offaly.
The 19-year-old victim died when the car in which he was a passenger crashed into a pillar at Monasteroais in Edenderry at around 11pm.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, who was also seriously injured in the crash, was taken by ambulance to Tullamore Hospital.
The road where the crash took place was expected to remain closed until midday.
The crash came just hours after two men were killed in Co Limerick when their car collided with a lorry.
The crash occurred at 6.40pm yesterday evening on the Birdhill side of Daly's Cross in Limerick.
The road between Birdhill and Finnegan's Roundabout was closed for several hours after the crash, with traffic diverted through Newport.
