Gardai in Dublin are investigating the discovery of a man's body at a flat in Harold's Cross this afternoon.

The man, who is believed to be 40 years old, was found dead by his landlord shortly after lunchtime.

A Garda spokesman confirmed gardai were called to the scene but said the death was not at present being treated as suspicious, despite reports that suggested the man appeared to have suffered an assault.

It is understood the man was last seen alive on Monday night.

Gardai at Terenure station are investigating.

The State pathologist, Dr Marie Cassidy, is examining the body this evening.
