Manchester United will pay Leeds £1.5 million as the final settlement on Rio Ferdinand's transfer to Old Trafford.
The England defender joined United in July 2002 for a fee then agreed as £29.3 million.
Leeds, who had hoped for £3.25 million, accepted the reduced amount in light of their current financial situation.
The Elland Road club has until 5 p.m. on Friday to raise £5 million which would satisfy creditors until the end of the season and move Leeds a step closer to avoiding administration.
