A man who was carrying a knife while visiting a friend in prison has been jailed for a month

A man who was carrying a knife while visiting a friend in prison has been jailed for a month. Michael O'Brien (30), of Eden Villas, Glasthule, Co Dublin, was convicted of having an offensive weapon in a public place on October 30th last. He was not present in Dublin District Court for yesterday's hearing.

Garda Eugene O'Leary said gardai found the knife when they were called to the prison to search O'Brien for drugs.
