GARDAÍ IN Cork were yesterday continuing to interview a man in connection with an aggravated robbery in the city during which masked men entered an elderly woman’s house and tied her up.

The incident happened at Connaught Avenue off College Road near University College Cork on Friday night. The victim of the robbery, who was in her late 60s or 70s, answered a knock at her door shortly before 9pm.

A gang of men wearing balaclavas tied her up and ransacked her home. They escaped with a small amount of cash in a car driven by an accomplice. The woman was not physically injured but was said to have been deeply shaken.

Four men were later arrested in a house on Blarney Street. Three were released without charge and files will be sent to the DPP.
