Southampton - The mayor of Southampton, Mr Michael Andrews, was one of two people killed when a seaplane crashed just offshore from the southern English coast during a promotion for the forthcoming millennium celebrations , police said last night.
Sixteen people were rescued by coastguards and police after the twin-engine seaplane began to sink after landing on the water. Ten people were taken to hospital suffering from injuries including shock and hypothermia.
