McDonald's posts ingredients on website

McDonald's has decided to provide information on the ingredients used in its "natural flavors" on its website.

McDonald's has decided to provide information on the ingredients used in its "natural flavors" on its website.

The move by the world's number one fast food chain came after vegetarians complained their french fries were fried in beef extract.

"Some of our customers have told us that current state and federal labeling standards do not give them as much information as they want to answer their dietary questions," McDonald's global quality assurance officer Mr Ken Koziol said last night.

"If our customers want more information about natural flavors to help them make informed choices, then we want to help them".

McDonalds also said it would update its printed pamphlets available at its restaurants to include the same information as the website.

In May, a lawyer in Seattle, Washington, announced he was taking McDonalds to court charging the fast-food giant with tricking its vegetarian customers.

The revelation by vegetarians provoked outrage here and abroad, especially in predominantly vegetarian India.

A few weeks later, McDonalds printed a discreet apology on its website, saying its food-processing methods respected religious practices in the 120 countries it did business in.

In Muslim countries, it said, no beef or pork extracts were used in processing their potatoes.
