Monaghan man wins farm award

A Co Monaghan farmer has won the Teagasc 1997 Student of the Year Award

A Co Monaghan farmer has won the Teagasc 1997 Student of the Year Award. Mr Paul McHugh (27), from Carricklane, Carrickmacross, was chosen from almost 1,000 young farmers on the year-long Teagasc Certificate in Farm Training programme.

He was presented with the award at the RDS in Dublin by the President, Mrs Robinson, who launched Teagasc's Agricultural Education Week. Mr McHugh manages the 75-acre family dairy and sheep farm with a 32,000 gallon milk quota.
