THE EU Beef Management Committee has accepted 5,011 tonnes of Irish beef into intervention over the next three weeks

THE EU Beef Management Committee has accepted 5,011 tonnes of Irish beef into intervention over the next three weeks. This will take over 15,000 bullocks off the market.

An Irish Farmers' Association statement welcomed the news last night and said that meat factories should be paying 88p per lb.

The committee decided to leave the upper limit of eligibility at 360kg for the next three months.
