A mother of three children with an address in Malahide, Dublin, was killed this afternoon when the car driven by her husband crashed into an articulated lorry on the Nenagh bypass in Co Tiperary.

The 36-year-old woman was a front seat passenger in the car that hit the lorry, which was parked on the hard shoulder. The crash occurred at around 4.15 p.m.

The family were believed to be on their way to a wedding in Killaloe in Co Clare. The woman's husband and their three children, aged between 9 and 5, were taken by ambulance to Nenagh hospital suffering from shock and trauma.

The name of the dead woman is not being released until relatives are informed.
