Police in Northern Ireland opened fire on a car today during what is believed to have been an attempted robbery.
A patrol was called to Chichester Park South in north Belfast after a house alarm went off at about 2.30am.
A spokesman said an officer fired a single shot at a car and it is believed to have been struck. The vehicle sped from the scene and was later recovered some distance away at Henry Place.
The Police Ombudsman was informed - as is required every time an officer opens fire - and is to investigate the incident. No one is believed to have been injured during the incident. There were no arrests.
