A Nigerian mother fighting deportation to keep her autistic son in the country has dramatically dropped her legal challenge against the State.

Olivia Agbonlahor, who has six-year-old twins, was battling an immigration order on the grounds that one of her children would be treated as an outcast in Africa because of his condition.

But the High Court proceedings against the moves suddenly came to an end during a brief hearing before Justice Mary Irvine.

Cormac O'Dullachain SC, barrister for Ms Agbonlahor (36), said he was withdrawing all legal proceedings.

Outside Bow Street court in central Dublin, Ms Agbonlahor with her solicitor, Kevin Brophy, refused to make any immediate statement about the move.
