A woman pedestrian in her 70s died yesterday afternoon after being struck by a car on the N72 Ring of Kerry road on the outskirts of Killarney.
It is understood the woman, a local, was attempting to cross the road at Bohereen na Marbh, Ballydowney, near the Killarney riding stables.
The Killarney to Killorglin road is a noted accident black spot.
