The long-running dispute between the Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) and the blood-testing centre at St Finbarr's Hospital in Cork moved closer to a compromise last night. The IBTS proposed a three-person international panel to decide whether blood-testing facilities should be allowed to remain in Cork.
As part of a rationalisation plan, the IBTS wants to remove blood testing from the Cork centre and concentrate all blood testing in Dublin.
