Police investigating the death of Michael McIlveen have issued an "urgent appeal" to the public for information.
Police believe that the 15-year-old Catholic schoolboy and his two friends were chased from the car park at IMC Cinema on the Larne Road in Ballymena to the rear of Granville Drive where he was attacked.
He was battered by a gang that cornered him in an alleyway and allegedly used a baseball bat before stamping on his head.
According to a PSNI spokesman up to 30 people were in the IMC car park at the time.
