`Punishments' leave four hurt

Four men have been wounded in three separate so-called punishment attacks in Belfast and Bangor, Co Down, on Monday night.

In Mount Vernon, in north Belfast, two men, aged 25 and 22, were each shot in the left thigh after three masked men broke into their flat before mid night.

In Bangor a 20-year-old man had to receive hospital treatment after being shot in the left leg in the Whitehill Estate at around 9 p.m.

A 19-year-old man suffered a broken arm after being attacked by two masked men with baseball bats in the Tullycarnet area of east Belfast shortly after 10 p.m.

A 15-year-old boy suffered cuts and bruises in an attack in Belfast last night. He was bundled into a car near his home in Ballymurphy and taken to houses at the rear of Moyard Parade where he was beaten.
