CIE is planning to convert almost 15 acres of land around Galway's railway station into a multi-million-pound retail park. Galway Corporation has already rezoned the land to allow for retail and commercial activity in the city's draft city development plan. The Government recently told CIE to sell off valuable property in urban areas to fund improvements in the public transport network.
