Mrs Robinson: wants
follow-up session in Dublin |
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Mrs Mary Robinson has indicated support for follow-up activities in Dublin to the world conference against racism that ends tomorrow in South Africa.
"She is willing to offer her support to ensure that the outcome of the world conference against racism is implemented," Ms Grainne Healy, chairwoman of the National Women's Council of Ireland, told ireland.comafter a brief meeting with Mrs Robinson.
Although no date has been fixed for the any visit, it is understood that Irish non-governmental organisations (NGOs) attending the conference will be holding a feedback session on September 28th, in Dublin.
According to Mr Philip Watt of the National Consultative Committee on Racism and Interculturalism, the meeting is aimed at briefing Irish NGOs that were unable to attend the conference in Durban.
