Russia's government today approved the legal framework for joint implemenation projects under the Kyoto agreement.

Russia's government today approved the legal framework for joint implemenation projects under the Kyoto agreement.

The move allows businesses to earn and then trade credits for trapping greenhouse gases harmful to the environment.

"The key reason is to attain ecological benefits both globally and locally here in Russia," an official in the economy ministry said.
