Moscow - A cash-starved Russian airline is paying its pilots with the planes they used to fly but which it can no longer afford to repair, the head of the local civil aviation department, Mr Vladimir Vinogradov, said.

The Antanov An-2s are stripped of their engines and wings and sold on to local inhabitants of Riazan, just south of Moscow, who use them as holiday homes.
