The retesting of samples collected at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Games discovered no trace of the anabolic steroid THG, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has said.

The decision to retest the samples for tetrahydrogestrinone was taken by the IOC in December, based on advice from experts, who confirmed it was legally and scientifically possible to do so.

The negative findings back up the results obtained by the International Association of Athletics Federations, the International Swimming Federation, the International Rowing Federation and the International Tennis Federation following their retesting of samples from previous competitions.

"These scientific findings are reassuring and confirm my initial gut feeling that THG was used on a limited scale", IOC president Jacques Rogge said.
