Edinburgh - A large area of Scotland's Argyll and island coastline was effected yesterday by one of the biggest earthquakes in Britain this year, experts said.

No damage or injuries were reported from the quake, which measured 3.4 on the Richter scale. The epicentre was nearly 14 km under the seabed off the west coast island of Jura.
