The Government is providing an additional £3 million for security equipment and alarms for older people, it was announced yesterday.

This brings the total allocated this year to £5 million, but the national president of Muintir na Tire, Mr Jim Quigley, said that while he welcomed the funding, voluntary groups had asked the Government for £7.5 million.
