Quidnunc's nomination for the Least Unlikely Subject of a Doctoral Dissertation goes to Jim McDaid

Quidnunc's nomination for the Least Unlikely Subject of a Doctoral Dissertation goes to Jim McDaid. The University of Iceland has introduced a course in its economics department based on the Minister for Tourism's visit to the island last summer.

The course covers how to use government ministers to sell things. McDaid successfully persuaded the Icelanders to continue their free-spending ways in Dublin this winter in the face of intense competition from cities such as Edinburgh.
