PHOENIX – Two US military helicopters collided during a training exercise along the Arizona-California border, killing seven marines, the marine corps said yesterday.
The aircraft, an AH-1W Cobra and a UH-1Y Huey, were conducting night-time training operations when the accident occurred at about 8pm local time on Wednesday.The collision occurred just beyond the training complex on the California side of the border. Television images showed a scorched debris field in the desert where the helicopters fell. The Marines said the incident was under investigation. – (Reuters)
