Video footage of police officers allegedly beating a Catholic mother with batons was sent to the Northern Ireland police ombudsman today.
Sinn Fein has also vowed to give the tape to the Irish, British and US governments, claiming it was the latest example of security force attacks on nationalists in the city.
"People need to see what nationalists in north Belfast are going through," Sinn Féin Assemblyman Mr Gerry Kelly said. "If this was any other country in the world this would be a scandal of massive proportions".
The film was taken by a resident as police moved in to separate Protestants and Catholics fighting in the North Queen Street area.
Nine officers and a soldier were injured during weekend violence. Police said they were attacked by nationalists hurling bricks.
But Sinn Féin claimed innocent Catholics living on the stretch of road were targeted by police who broke into their homes.
Mr Kelly said the video was being forwarded to Ms Nuala O'Loan, who investigates all complaints against the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).
It is alleged a Sinn Féin councillor, Mr Gerard Brophy, was also beaten by officers as he tried to calm the situation.
