A Fine Gael TD has said that all public representatives of his party who have been criticised by either the Moriarty tribunal or the planning tribunal should not receive any severance pay or pension.

Dublin Mid-West TD Derek Keating told party members in his constituency the forfeiture of payments should apply to serving politicians.

A number of Fine Gael politicians were criticised in the planning tribunal report for having accepted payments and donations, including Dublin South TD Olivia Mitchell and councillors Therese Ridge and Anne Devitt.

Mr Keating did not name any politician but said he supported the call by Minister of State Joe Costello for a referendum that would pave the way for politicians found to have acted inappropriately to have their pensions withdrawn.
