Three people suspected in a deadly Tunisian synagogue attack believed to have been carried out by terrorists linked to al Qaeda were transferred to Paris under heavy guard this afternoon to appear before an anti-terrorism judge, police said.
The three were among eight family members of the prime suspect, Nizar Naouar, detained by French intelligence agents last Tuesday near Lyon.
The April 11th attack at the historic Ghriba synagogue on the resort island of Djerba killed 19 people, including 14 German tourists. Naouar is believed to have died in the attack.
Naouar's mother, father and aunt were detained but released early today. Two others were released Wednesday.
German authorities have said the attack was linked to the al Qaeda network.
Naouar's 22-year-old brother Walid, his uncle Mohamed Sethi Naouar, and a family member identified only as Tarek were transferred from Lyon to the French capital in a convoy of unmarked police cars, police said.
The three were scheduled to appear Tuesday before Investigating Judge Jean-Louis Bruguiere.
