Unfortunate title, but don't be put off by it. This is one of a series featuring insurance investigator Dave Brandstetter, resident of L.A., a homosexual but known sometimes to kick to touch with the right foot as well as with the left. Here he is looking into the death of Police Chief Ben Orton, main man in the small coastal town of La Caleta. Chief Orton was dispatched by being crowned with a flower pot and local gay rights activist Cliff Kerlee has been arrested for the foul deed. As Orton was a known bigot and right-wing hater of all things that deviated from what he considered the norm, it is not unreasonable to suggest that Kerlee was the wielder of the deadly pot. Brandstetter, of course, believes otherwise, and, at some risk to himself, sets out to find the true killer. A short novel, told with a nicely tart sense of humour and with a line in dialogue that uses non-sequiturs delightfully. Recommended.
