Three people were rescued from a boat on Lough Derg, Co Clare, last night
The three were brought ashore by the Lough Derg RNLI lifeboat after their speedboat apparently ran out of fuel and was adrift near Killaloe.
"The vessel had neither lights nor any other means of making itself visible," according to an RNLI spokeswoman.
The lifeboat maintained regular mobile telephone contact with the vessel after being called out at about midnight.
