Three people were recovering today after a flat fire in Portrush, Co Antrim.
A toddler was among those rescued from the blaze in Eglinton Street at about 11pm last night.
A man, in the ground floor flat, and a woman and one-year-old in a first floor flat were led to safety by firefighters. No one required hospital treatment.
Harry Smyth, from the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service, said the fire alarm system prevented the fire becoming more serious.
"It was really the consequence of the early warning given to the occupants by the fire alarm that changed the whole course of events of this fire," he said.
"I have no doubt had it not been for the fire alarm giving them that early warning, giving that time to get from the premises, the consequences would have been so different this morning."
