Seven mortar rounds landed in central Baghdad today, slightly wounding two soldiers from the US-led force and an Iraqi civilian.

Witnesses who heard the blasts, shortly after midday (Irish time) said they appeared to land close to the Green Zone, US administrative headquarters in Baghdad.

Insurgents regularly attack the Green Zone with mortar bombs, though normally after dark. The attacks rarely cause more than minor damage.
