Sydney - Resolution of the 22-year struggle for East Timor's independence could be close, the activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Dr Jose Ramos Horta, said yesterday. He said the consent of President Suharto of Indonesia to a meeting between the South African President Nelson Mandela and East Timor's jailed resistance leader Xanana Gusmao, might be a sign a resolution was near, Dr Ramos Horta said.
