THE people of Tralee have been saddened and sickened by the murder, of Mrs Margaret (Hannah) O Sullivan, the local priest told mourners at her funeral yesterday.

The manner in which he died diminished the community. Father Sean Hannafin told the congregation. "The peace in our town has been shattered. No human words can explain or adequately console Hannah's family.

Hannah's husband, Donny, her sons, Oliver (19) and Eric (12), and her daughter, Vicky (7), led mourners through the streets of Tralee to the local graveyard.

Donny, who had been separated from his wife but remained good friends with her, held his daughter, in his arms.

Gardai believe Mrs O Sullivan was stabbed to death on Sunday afternoon at her home in the centre of the town. The killing is the second in Tralee in just four months.

The teenager charged with the murder of Ms Anne Marie Duffin (39) appeared in Tralee District Court yesterday. The youth, who was accompanied by his father, was remanded in custody to St Patrick's Institution. He was 16 years old last Sunday.
