Nairobi - The trial of a policeman accused of murdering an Irish priest opened yesterday in Rift Valley, Kenya, with the prosecution saying it would prove the shooting was premeditated.

Father Larry Timmons was killed last January when two police officers arrived at the St Francis Secondary School in Nakuru, 93 miles north-west of Nairobi. Police Constable Francis Kimanzi Mbay (35) denies he killed the Franciscan priest when police raided the schoolyard.
