A combination of sporting events and severe weather could cause misery for motorists this weekend.
Some 20,000 rugby fans are expected to descend on Lansdowne Road for the Magners League game between Leinster and Munster. Kick-off is at 7.30pm, and motorists in the area should expect increased volumes of traffic before and after the game.
Also in the Magners League tonight, Connacht host Ulster at the Showgrounds in Galway, with kickoff at 6.30 pm.
Racing will also take place over the weekend, with Gowran Park in Kilkenny hosting the racing festival this weekend. The first race on Saturday gets under way at 2.15pm. Delays are expected on roads approaching the racecourse, with a large crowd predicted for the event.
In the Curragh, racing begins at 2.05pm on Sunday, while in Limerick racing kicks off at 2.15.
Elsewhere, Galway City Council and Sligo County Council have issued severe weather warnings for the weekend, with flooding a risk for low-lying areas.
In Galway, the Fishmarket/Spanish Arch/Quay Street area is at risk, due to unusually high tides, and motorists are being asked to take alternative routes between 4pm and 7pm today.
The threat of gale force winds at high tide could result in flooding for the Fishmarket, Spanish Arch and Salthill areas.
