Tyrone Howe to replace Luger

Tyrone Howe has been named as the replacement for the injured Dan Luger

Tyrone Howe has been named as the replacement for the injured Dan Luger. England wing Luger had been ruled out of the Lions' 10-match tour Down Under after suffering a facial injury when he collided with Neil Back in

training yesterday.

Luger has a cracked eye socket and will be out of action for at least six weeks, destroying his chances of Test recognition.

Ireland wing Tyrone Howe has been summoned as his replacement, and is expected to link up with the tour squad this weekend.

Howe, 30, has won six caps for Ireland, and was pencilled in on the Lions' stand-by list following some impressive Heineken Cup displays for Ulster.

Luger becomes the fourth Lion to see his tour ended by injury, following Simon Taylor, Phil Greening and Mike Catt.
