London - The British Ministry of Defence has admitted that Britain cannot stop the delivery of three Hawk 209 jets which were sold to Indonesia, despite the EU arms embargo which was imposed last week.
The MoD has said that it is powerless to intervene as the jets have already been legally sold. The Hawks are currently in Thailand, where they landed after one of the pilots developed diarrhoea while en route to Indonesia.
There has been allegations from inside the Indonesian military that the jets stopped in Bangkok because the British Foreign Secretary, Mr Robin Cook, intervened in an attempt to block the delivery.
