Turkish Prime Minister Abdullah Gul has said there is "mutual understanding" in talks with Washington on opening Turkey to US troops for any war on Iraq.
Turkey has postponed a parliamentary vote on opening itsbases and sea ports as it seeks billions of dollars in financial aid from its close ally to buttress itsfragile economy against a possible war.
Washington has expressed frustration over delays on theopening of bases that would serve as staging points for a"northern front".
Analysts say a second invasion force intoIraq's north could shorten any war and lower the number ofUS casualities.
