A US-based information solutions company is to expand its Irish operation in Co Wexford and create 180 jobs.

Equifax Commercial Services, which is a subsidiary of Equifax Incorporated, employs 140 staff at its plant in Whitemill Industrial Estate in Wexford town.

The firm said the expansion would result in Wexford becoming the primary support centre for a number of the company's European services.

The company said the current staff on temporary contracts will have the opportunity to fill 45 of the new positions.

To cater for the expansion, Equifax is to relocate to new premises on the IDA business park at Drinagh, Wexford, by the fourth quarter of this year.

Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin said: "The expansion, being part of Equifax's strategy for international growth, makes Wexford a further integrated and critical part of the Group's future well-being."
