The Ulster Unionist Party met at Stormont yesterday to discuss its continuing concern at the crisis in the Northern Ireland pig industry.

The British government was urged to act immediately to relieve the backlog of overweight pigs. "We would urge everyone to support their local farmers at this time of crisis by purchasing only Ulster pork and bacon," Mr John Taylor, the deputy party leader, said.
