Warning of faulty Christmas lights

Consumers have been warned about potentially dangerous Christmas tree lights

Consumers have been warned about potentially dangerous Christmas tree lights. The lights have been tested and fail to meet the requirements of the Low Voltage Directives, according to the Director of Consumer Affairs, Ms Carmel Foley.

The packs of 20 and 50 coloured fairy and diamond lights are retailing at around £1.99 and £4.99. The lights which were tested have a slack bulb connection which can expose live wires, resulting in a risk of electric shock.

Consumers are advised to return these lights to the shop where they were bought and retailers to return them to their suppliers.
