The Irish Medicines Board yesterday warned of the dangers of purchasing counterfeit Viagra-type drugs and other prescribed medicines over the internet. According to Revenue figures, 1.258 million medical tablets were seized at points of entry last year.

A Revenue spokeswoman said yesterday the most popular medicines seized were erectile dysfunction medicines, cosmetic meds, including diet pills and tablets for hair loss, and sedatives that included diazepam (Valium).
